8 Sep

Earlier today I was dying to find out information about the new achievements and rewards that were being introduced with Mists of Pandaria. Having found nothing easy to shift through, I decided to collect as much information on this topic as I could in one place, then make it easy to shift through. Here you go!

The time has finally come to experience patch 5.0.0 and the beginning of Mists of Pandaria. I just pre-ordered my collectors edition of the game and now get to experience part of it this coming week as the patch hits (probably) Tuesday. So get ready to update your add ons and find out if your graphics card can handle MoP!

In case you were living under a rock, here’s the run down of what we get to look forward to: Continue reading

No more special ponies – New Black Market in WoW

13 May

Ashes of Al’ar mount

Those pissed that they can no longer be special ponies with the addition of account wide mounts and achievements in World of Warcraft have something new to fear – The Black Market Auction House. The new Black Market AH allows players to bid on special items that are not sold by NPCs, like the above Ashes of Al’ar mount. Other items that have been seen are the Reins of the Blazing Drake, Swift White Hawkstrider, and Riding Turtle.

It’s not just mounts that will be sold, though. The picture (below) posted by MMO-champion suggests there will be pets, crafting recipes and the long lost Tier 3 armor sets. If you were looking to transmog your gear into these gorgeous sets, you no longer have to wait for them to be added to the Dark Moon Faire, though hopefully they still will be. There’s also speculation that even more items that are no longer obtainable will be reintroduced into the game this way like the Zul Garub tiger and raptor mounts, the Ulduar black and plagued proto-drakes, or the batling pet from the Wrath release event.

But who’s responsible for this madness? Madam Goya, who makes her home at the Tavern of the Mists in the Veiled Stair, which is north of the Valley of the Four Winds. Wrathion is chilling with her, but I’m not sure if that means anything.

Only time will tell if Blizzard/Activision has made a smart play with this new Auction House, but one thing’s for sure, all of those who farmed up a ton of gold and want something to spend it on will finally have a place to dump their  cash. Maybe inflation will go down on the regular Auction House now?

Illidan’s a beast! Wait, no, that’s a warlock tank

1 Apr

Oh, yeah, I said it – Warlock tanking. I was let into the Mists of Pandaria Beta this last Saturday and picked my warlock as the first class I wanted to explore. Picking the Demonology tree first as I wanted to see the new demons in action, I discovered the tanking glyph. It’s not even a talent that lets you tank, but a glyph.

Alright, I thought, let’s try this out and see how it works. Filling out my talents, gems, enchants and glyphs with everything else that would assist me the best when tanking, I ran around the Jade Forest and killed stuff, hoping I’d run into an elite mob and could test how well I really was doing as a tank. I found shit. Apparently there are few elite mobs in the first part of the starting zone.

Really needing an accurate test, I hopped into an instance and talked the tank and healer into letting me be be the tank. For whatever reason they agreed and we took on Jade Serpent Temple together. Even though I wasn’t entirely sure what the hell I was doing, I was a successful tank. Not the best tank, since I couldn’t get my hands on how best to fill my fury bar and work AoE tanking down until the end, but I did my job and the only people who died stood in shit they shouldn’t have. Fire’s bad, mmkay? (and so is water now)

Coming out of the instance I was psyched! I ran around kicking random mob ass and telling everyone I could how great warlock tanking was. There was only one thing left to do: tell all of you about it too. Continue reading

MoP Press Release: Fuck yous, right ons, and other info

19 Mar

MoP Map

The Mists of Pandaria Press event happened today with plenty of stupid reveals and great things to come. I scoured the interviews, blogs and press releases to put together the things I thought were the best, the worst, or just rather noteworthy about the upcoming World of Warcraft expansion.

The obvious things we know about MoP are, of course, discussed in the press release. The Jade Temple, the Stormstout Brewery, new Scholomance, new Scarlet Monestary, Pet Battle system, Pandarians, monk class, etc. I’m not going to touch on those at all if they don’t discuss something new – and for the most part, they don’t. Luckily there is plenty of new information being given out that I’ve combed through to find the most interesting, infuriating, and just noteworthy news that’s been given out today.

We’ll start with the shit that just plain pissed me off: Continue reading

MoP Image Leak

18 Mar

Some lovely person took a bunch of screen shots and leaked them for your viewing pleasure. You can find the full Gallery here, but here are the one’s I liked best:

Here’s a picture of the Jade Temple, which I believe is one of the new instances. The talbuk wandering around are a bit disappointing (not to mention lore breaking), but I love the dragon statues, all the cliffs and trees everywhere. It does remind me a lot of Nagrand, but I loved Nagrand, so there’s no complaining here.

Holy crap, the new Pandarans look boss! This makes me actually consider rolling a Monk class. Continue reading

Ugraz on Hunter Pets and PvP

6 Sep

This is the write up Ugraz did for Episode 23. It’s very well written and informative, so for all you hunters out there, enjoy!

The classic hunter PvP pet is a spider. There are many spider models, and they have a nice Web ability. These pets are useful in all types of PvP: Bgs/Arenas/world pvp. AND they are pretty useful against most enemies, because you get to hold them in place. (Healers can’t run behind a wall. Melee can’t keep chasing you. Casters can’t stand on you and attack) I prefer wasps over spiders though. Wasps have a stun that lasts two seconds. The stun lasts shorter than the web, yes, but the target cannot do anything while stunned..and if you’re lucky, they’ll waste their trinket on that.

IF you are doing PvP with a rogue or a warrior, you might want to use a Hyena or a Boar. These pets have an ability that increases all Bleed damage by 30% for 15 seconds, and the cool down is only 10 seconds. That means, they can keep reapplying the debuff to enemies, while your melee buddy uses it to his/her advantage. Continue reading
